The history of UB Clinic (Ultrasound Botafogo) is intertwined with the beginning of ultrasound in Brazil. In November 1973, a group of professors from the School of Medicine at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) inaugurated the first ultrasound service, then installed at the School Maternity Hospital. In 1981, the same pioneering group created Ultrasound Botafogo at the Botafogo Medical Center. Since its foundation, UB Clinic (Ultrasound Botafogo) has had professors and physicians from UFRJ's School Maternity Hospital on its medical staff. As a pioneer in biophysical methods established in clinical practice such as Ultrasound, Doppler in Obstetrics, 3D Ultrasound, and also in ultrasound-guided invasive procedures such as Chorionic Villus Biopsy (transabdominal approach), Cordocentesis, and intrauterine corrections (fetal surgery), UB takes pride in its contribution to the development of Fetal Medicine in Brazil. The advancement of the method, the increase in clinical indications, and the population's access to ultrasound examinations were responsible for this rise in demand. The excellence of the service provided by its technical staff using the most modern technology resulted in the expansion of its units across various neighborhoods in our city. With a trajectory of pioneering work and recognition spanning more than 30 years serving Rio de Janeiro physicians in their requests for their patients' exams, we seek to maintain the same philosophy that has always guided our journey: technological innovation and qualified medical staff. All of this allows UB Clinic to enjoy respect and credibility among physicians and their patients.
